€9.6m have been spent so far on works as part of the City Gate project and the project is on time, Infrastructure Minister Austin Gatt said in reply to a parliamentary question.

He said work is being carried out on the substructure of the parliament building including the foundations and the basement and these will be completed in August.

On the site of the former opera house, work is concentrated on the consolidation and restoration of the remains.

All works are on schedule and €9,643,920 have been spent so far.
