Joseph Buhagiar of Victoria has been presented with a DVD of the 1953 film The 5000 Fingers of Dr T, the first film he projected back in 1962 at the Don Bosco Oratory in Victoria.

Mr Buhagiar started as an apprentice projectionist 45 years ago with George Aquilina, then head projectionist of the oratory's cinema.

The oratory is one of the oldest cinemas in the Maltese Islands. Since its first screening in 1951 - Joan of Arc, with Ingrid Bergman - this cinema has been providing family entertainment with its Cinefamilja Sunday screenings.

Fr Effie Masini, director of the centre, praised Mr Buhagiar's voluntary work, notably his kindness and willingness to help in almost every sector of the centre.

Apart from working as a projectionist at the oratory, he also served at the Astra cinema from 1968 to 1997.
