Siblings Francesca and Federica Badalini from Niccolo' Paganini Conservatory of Genova and Milan's School of Music, Italy, will present the "quattro mani" concert "Cinema in Note" --- "Cinema in Music" performing the most beautiful sound-tracks of highly acclaimed films throughout the years.

The concert is organized by Fiesole Artistic Productions in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute and will be held on Saturday 15 May at 7.30pm at the Sala Isouard of the Manoel Theatre,Valletta.

The programme includes famous sound-tracks starting from Charles Chaplin's movie "Limelight" of 1952; Leonard Bernstein's "West Side Story" of 1961; Nino Rota's "Il Gattopardo" (1963) directed by Luchino Visconti , "Amarcord" (1973) of Federico Fellini and "Parla piu' piano" from "Il Padrino" of 1972 by Francis Ford Coppola ; Andrew Lloyd Weber's "The Phantom of the Opera" (2004); James Horner's"My heart will go on" from "Titanic" (1997);

Johann Strauss' "Blue Danube Waltz" from "A Space Odyssey" (1968); Francis Lai's "Love Story" (1970); Rimsky-Korsakoff's "The flight of the bumble-bee" from "Shine" (1966); Ennio Morricone's "Once upon a time in A merica" (1984) directed by Sergio Leone and "La leggenda del pianista sull'oceano" (1998 ) of Giuseppe Tornatore ; Michael Nymann's "The Piano" (1993); Yann Tiersen's "Il favoloso mondo di Amelie" (2001) ; the famous "Somewhere my love" from "Dr Zhivago" of 1965 composed by Jean Michel Jarre, and a medley of neapolitan selections from the film "Carosello napoletano" of 1954.

Leading film critic Tony Cassar Darien will give a synopsis of each film's plot,artistic value and musical perspective.

Federica and Francesca Badalini graduated at the Niccolo' Paganini Conservatory of Genova under the guidance of Mro Anita Porrini. They teach pianoforte at the School of Music of Milan and have performed as supporting pianists in opera concerts and in the training of oboe and clarinet players of the Orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala. They are very active throughout Italy performing concerts ranging from traditional to classical music, film sound-tracks and original compositions by Federica Badalini.

Since the year 2000 they have been collaborating with "Cineteca Italiana" and "Cineteca Griffith" of Genova, and have accompanied silent movies in Italy, Switzerland and France. In 2001 the "Cineteca Italiana" entrusted them with the adaptation for four hands of the original sound-track score of the silent cinema masterpiece "Metropolis" by Fritz Lang and performed it at the world premiere at Spazio Oberdan,Milan and subsequently in Cagliari, Piacenza, Trento, Genova, Bologna,Padova,Trieste and Verona in various film festivals.

In 2007 they recorded a sound-track for children for the silent movie "The Pilgrim" of Charles Chaplin using toy instruments; they also recorded other CDs blending rock and classical music and additional sound-tracks for the silent movies "Battleship Potemkin", "Nosferatu", "Die Nibelungen" and "The Caretaker's Daughter", prize winner in the International Silent Film Festival "Strade del Cinema" held in Aosta,Italy; In 2005 the CD "Dulcedo, emozioni musica" produced by Idea Musica with the performance of compositions by Alfredo Novarini for pianorte and electronic orchestra.

In 2009 they recorded also a CD of Viennese Waltzes for the cultural association "Alla ricerca dei suoni perduti" (in search of lost sounds), playing a "Heitzmann und sohn" fortepiano , a rare grand piano of 1870.

Their project "Cinema in Note" performed with "quattro mani"/ four-hands is an innovative concert concept born from their passion for cinema and from their successful experience as sound-track composers , and is having outstanding success in Italian festivals and in the media's reviews for its innovative approach to stimulate a higher appreciation of the artistic and musical values of the international cinema's legacy.
