The Church yesterday celebrated the 100th anniversary of the International Eucharistic Congress.

The celebration, led by Archbishop Paul Cremona, was held in St George’s Square, Valletta.

It included the participation of Apostolic Nuncio Aldo Cavalli, Auxiliary Bishop Charles J. Scicluna, Archbishop Emeritus Joseph Mercieca and the bishop of Malindi, Kenya, Mgr Emmanuel Barbara.

Some 3,500 people attended Mass including priests, lay people and around 340 children who received their first Holy Communion in the past days.

Mass was followed with a procession with the Holy Sacrament to St John’s CoCathedral where the faithful received a Sacramental Blessing.
