The Church's new primary school at the Seminary in Tal-Virtu was officially inaugurated by Archbishop Paul Cremona today.

The school, which welcomed its first students last October, was built in 12 months.

It is spread on 9,000 square metres over four storeys. It has 24 classes, a child care centre for the staff's children, a library, an indoor playing hall, a music room, laboratories, a 300-person hall, space for live-ins and students meetings as well as other spaces.

The school has wifi connectivity, intelligent lighting, insulation and solar heating. It also has a plant room for water recycling.

Archbishop Cremona said this morning that the Church chose to support the education reform with a great sense of responsibility.

"Despite being a burden on the Church and its various institutes, it was with joy and enthusiasm that the church replied to this call. Investing once more in education, it is the Church's hope that it will continue to contribute to society in general, and to parents and families, in particular."

The diocese's direct involvement in the reform is through the Seminary which is run by the diocese. The other church schools, run by the different religious orders, have also given their contribution to the reform, Mgr Cremona said.
