The Rural Festivities Unit within the Parliamentary Secretariat for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights organised a Christmas Village at Għammieri last Sunday 14th December 2014, between 10am and 7pm. Once again this year’s aim was to collect funds for l-Istrina

The Christmas village was a real success as €3950 were collected. 

The event kicked off with an animated mass with the participation of the Żurrieq MUSEUM choir. Thanks to the various sponsors, the Rural Festivities Unit Team were able to come up with a programme full of activities ideal for all the family.  Local artists were invited, including Amber, winner of this year’s Eurovision as the special guest.  

The Christmas village was full of different types of food, tradition crafts, sweets, various gifts, toys, Christmas decorations and products made at Għammieri, such as herbs and honey.  There was also mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and the tradition Maltese Christmas drink l-Imbuljuta

Father Christmas was also present on a sledge giving presents to all the kids who were taking photos with him. 

In the VIP lounge, people had the chance to meet famous local actors and protagonists from various episodes, such as ‘il-Klikka’, ‘it-Tfal’, ‘Salib it-Toroq’, ‘Katrina’, ‘Ċaqqufa’, ‘Klassi Għalina’, ‘Ħbieb u Għedewwa’ and ‘Simpatiċi’.  Salvu Mallia, Justin Haber u Rewan Muscat.  

The Hon. Roderick Galdes, Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights and Mr. Edgar Preca were also present for this event.
