On Christmas Eve, we attended the midnight Mass at Mosta. As usual, the Rotunda was already packed solid ahead of time. There were chartered buses which brought in people from other towns and villages.

Several foreign tourists also came to join the community. Although they may not understand Maltese, their presence as a Body of Christ was an additional value to enhance the true spirit of Christmas.

Two sermons by St Gorg Preca were delivered from a tape recording. The readings were presented by the brothers of Dun Gorg Preca's MUSEUM, depicting his life and teachings. A beautiful sketch was presented with a procession of Baby Jesus in Dun Gorg's arms accompanied by little children and the original MUSEUM lanterns.

It was a wonderful presentation organised by the MUSEUM urging people to look up to a "living saint", St Gorg Preca, who dedicated all his life to the nation.

The recorded voice of the sermons of St Gorg Preca had various times pleaded to the Christians to be more like Christ. It reminded me of one of Gandhi's famous quotes that says: "I like your Christ but not your Christians because your Christians are so unlike your Christ." This obviously is directed at hypocrisy.

The quote is very true, for I being a convert can testify that in my journey of faith, if I were to look up to people rather than to God, I would have given up my faith long time ago.

A traditional sermon was presented by young Nicholas Vella who won rounds of applause.

By midnight, a Solemn Mass was concelebrated by Archpriest Dun Mario Tong together with the parish clergy.

At the end of the mass, the Archpriest stood by the main door and shook hands with everyone wishing us a Merry Christmas.
