Around and across the globe, Christmas is an event that is celebrated with a lot of passion and gusto. People gather in their homes, out on the streets and generally, during this time of the year, everybody feels obliged to be friendly with each other. There are numerous traditions that have been associated with the birth of Jesus, which we often forget is the real reason why Christmas is celebrated.

The Germans have contributed significantly to the traditions that are currently associated with Christmas, and one of their many traditions is that of Christmas markets, which are generally set up during the four weeks of Advent, offering a variety of different items for sale. This tradition has grown and crossed European boarders so that today one can find it being followed in all parts of the globe.

And, those who aren’t Christians also join in the festivities since the event is held on such a large scale.
