Archbishop Paul Cremona said yesterday that Christ is the light for all nations. And in parishes, the Church has to be the light for those who do not form part of it.

Speaking during the homily during the Candlemas ceremony at St John's Co-Cathedral in Valletta, Mgr Cremona said that every Christian community has to see how to purify itself. Also in the community there has to be a longing for the Lord. This ceremony where candles are blessed recalls the presentation of the infant Jesus in the Temple and the purification of the Virgin Mary. On the day, each parish priest presents a candle to the Archbishop and to his Vicar General, Bishop Annetto Depasquale as a sign of respect, honour and fidelity.
