The Chorus Urbanus recently presented the 11th edition of its Christmas concert at St George's Basilica in Victoria.

For this year's concert, Chorus Urbanus invited the Orchestra dell'Università Kore di Enna (with musical director Massimo Leonardi) to accompany it.

The choir performed pieces including Andante Religioso by Charles Camilleri and Canticum for Strings by John Galea, the premier of Pastoralmesse in G by Karl Kempter as well as a number of Christmas carols such as Stille Nacht and Jesus Joy of Man's Desire and an a capella interpretation of While Shepherds Watched. The Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's The Messiah was presented as a grand finale.

Two poems with a Christmas theme were read by Chev. Joe M Attard who compèred the concert. One of the poems, written by Can. Joe Meilak, was read in memory of this poet who passed away merely two days before the concert. The other poem was written by Chev. Attard.

The concert was organised with the collaboration of the Rev. Chapter of St George's Basilica and Victoria Council.

A repeat performace of the concert was held at St Joseph's parish church in Kalkara on December 21 with the collaboration of the Rev. Clergy of the same parish and the Kalkara Council. The Kalkara concert was held in aid of Id-Dar tal-Providenza.
