Chinese Ambassador Liu Zheng Xiu presented prizes and gifts to participants of a quiz about the People's Republic of China when he visited the Guze D'Amato Secondary School, in Paola.

Mr Liu also donated books, 13 Chinese classical feature films and 23 documentaries covering different aspects of Chinese culture, acrobatics, medicine, education, history, geography and the economy.

The head of school, Anthony Demicoli, thanked the ambassador for his donation.

He assured Mr Liu that his generous donation will be put to good use, pointing out that a week earlier the director of the China Cultural Centre in Malta, Xiaowei Xiang, had visited the school and presented prizes, donated by the centre, to a number of students during Prize Day.

Mr Liu congratulated the students who took part in the quiz and thanked them for the interest they showed in Chinese culture. He augured there would be further cooperation between the school and the China Cultural Centre in Valletta.

The quiz was won by Lennex Panzavecchia. Clayton James and Soufiane Samhaoui placed second and third respectively.
