A delegation led by the president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Chen Haosu, recently paid a courtesy call on the Rector of the University, Professor Roger Ellul-Micallef.

The delegation was invited to Malta by the Malta-China Friendship Society to mark the 30th anniversary of Sino-Maltese diplomatic relations. Professor Ellul-Micallef and Mr Chen discussed ways in which the University could attract more Chinese students to Malta. After the meeting, Mr Chen went on campus to meet a large number of Chinese students currently reading for a degree or participating in the foundation course at the University of Malta.

Present for the meeting were the president of the Malta-China Friendship Society, Reno Calleja, and Mme He, chargé d'affaires ad interim at the Chinese Embassy.
