Central Office Ejjew Għandi (Children's Homes) indeed runs five child-day care centres, assisting families afflicted by social problems, most living below the relative poverty line as The Times editorial referred.
This Catholic agency, whose founder and first director was the late Rev. Mgr Maurice Grech, coordinates also the work of eight residential homes for children and young persons, run by religious, residential social workers and qualified lay care-givers. At present we are offering care and protection to about 160 minors.
Besides, our social and charitable work includes also two shelters for women and their children experiencing domestic violence.
