Over 80 children joined BirdLife Malta on a 12-kilometre walk that started in Rabat and ended near is-Simar Nature Reserve in Xemxija. This walk, sponsored by Bank of Valletta, provided members of Klabb Ħuttaf, BirdLife's branch for under-18-year-olds, a chance to play their part towards creating a better environment.

Primary school students participating in BirdLife's education project Dinja Waħda took part.

Primary school teachers and families also joined in, bringing the total number of participants to 170.

Every year, Klabb Ħuttaf members collect money for a particular BirdLife project. The money raised last year went to buy a grass cutter which is being used by the ranger at Foresta 2000. This year the funds will go towards the purchase of optical equipment for is-Simar Nature Reserve.

The walk took participants to some of the most spectacular sites including Tas-Salib, Mġarr, Żebbiegħ and San Martin.

At the end of the marathon next to the Simar Nature Reserve, the children stamped their coloured hand-print on a piece of material displaying the words "Aħna nħobbu l-kampanja" (We love the countryside).

At the end of the activity the participants received prizes, according to the amount of money they collected.
