Reports of child abuse by priests are blown out of proportion. The many priests and religious teachers whom I know are all dedicated people and deserve our admiration.

I know from close quarters the members of St Paul`s Missionary Society (Rabat). They run a vocational school - secondary teaching from Form 1 to Form V. For more than four years I was involved with these members. I gave my share in the sport sector.

During this period, I can honestly say that there was never any shadow of doubt about the integrity of each member of the teaching staff.

We do not hear much about the wonderful work which the brothers of Mother Teresa (Missionaries of Charity) are doing throughout the world.

They work with the poorest of the poor in big cities` slum areas like Paris and New York. They mainly work with destitute people. I had the wonderful experience to visit them in Paris and witness their love.

I feel that we must not get the wrong impression about our priests and educators. We know what the Jesuits have done in the past and are still doing.

They are doing a wonderful job and we should appreciate their efforts. Our peace of mind should not be troubled by the latest reports about child abuse. Our children are in good hands.
