Sharp shooter William Chetcuti marked another memorable weekend in his relatively short career when showing his true worth in Double Trap at the Bidnija ranges yesterday.

Despite the unfavourable windy conditions, he went on to claim a two-day 150+50 competition, 30 clays ahead of his nearest rival, just a few hours after he was declared Sportsman of the Year for the second time running.

Chetcuti targeted 137 points in competition before smashing 44 from 50 in the barrage. He finished with 181 clays, well ahead of his runner-up Emmanuel Grima who hit 151 (119+32).

On Saturday, Chetcuti polled 292 points in the Sportivi Nazzjonali contest. He finished first in his category ahead of cueist Tony Drago and Raschid Chouhal, of athletics.
