A 48-year-old man from Cospicua was granted bail this morning after pleading not guilty to grievously injuring his father-in-law.

The man, from Cospicua, was accused of injuring the 69-year-old and disturbing the public peace at around 2pm yesterday.

He also pleaded not guilty to injuring his wife on Friday evening.

Prosecuting, Inspector Josric Mifsud asked the court not to grant bail as the incident could be repeated since the alleged victims and the accused lived in the same locality.

The court granted bail against a personal guarantee of €8,000, and ordered the accused not to speak to his wife or her father.

The court was presided by Magistrate Dr Claire Stafrace Zammit.
