A man who was allegedly meant to pick-up drugs from a British courier on Monday was yesterday remanded in custody.

Nelson Mufa, 34, from Liberia was charged with conspiring to import the drugs and pleaded not guilty.

Police sources said that Scott Douglas Bell, 22, from Newcastle upon Tyne, was meant to hand over the heroin to another person. The police were monitoring the delivery and arrested the two during the alleged exchange.
