A book entitled Mediterranean Island Landscapes: Natural and Cultural approaches has been published by the Springer Publishing Company as part of its Landscape Series.

This latest book is the ninth in the series, and includes a chapter on the Maltese archipelago, authored by Dr Louis F. Cassar, Elisabeth Conrad and Prof. Patrick J. Schembri.

The chapter reviews the evolution of the semi-natural and cultural landscapes of the Maltese islands, and discusses the impacts of recent environmental changes and implications for landscape ­conservation and management.
