As I put pen to paper I am currently being told by our dear friends at CNN that Barack Obama is yet ahead of John McCain in the race to become US president. It is a trend that has been resulting for weeks on end now and if someone here, today, asked me to put my money on a candidate I would certainly put my every dime and penny on Mr Obama beating Mr McCain on November 4.

Having said that, it does not in any way mean that I think America is making the right choice. In fact I believe that Mr Obama is a disaster waiting to happen and he is so for several reasons and on several fronts.

His campaign has been all about glitz and glamour. It has been all about rhetoric and beautiful speeches. Remove the glitz and glamour and a Barack Obama presidency is as yet a huge gigantic question mark. Many have questioned the policies and ideas of Mr McCain and many have been able to do so because unlike his Democratic rival a McCain presidency has been clearly spelt out for all to see.

Mr McCain unlike Mr Obama has not banked on a whole plethora of disgruntled political high flyers and Hollywood supremos to back him up. There are those who question the qualifications of Sarah Palin fearing she's not up to the task. Yet what's so different in terms of experience between Sarah Palin and two-year Senator Obama? Very little if anything.

I believe that indeed Mr Obama will become US President. Yet the Obama presidency will bring nothing to America apart from economic stagnation typical of a very much socialist orientated politician, international insignificance and political liberalism which is fertile ground for pro-abortion campaigners and the like.
