The majestic Verdala Palace in Buskett will be open to the public on October 18-19.

The initiative follows last year's opening of San Anton Palace, which was swamped with people.

Visitors will have the chance to tour the late 16th century palace, the surrounding woods and also view frescoes attributed to Filippo Paladini.

The uncovering and restoration of the Paladini works was made possible through the initiative of President Eddie Fenech Adami, with the financial assistance of the Gasan Group, the Malta Financial Services Authority, Polidano Brothers and Tumas Group which collectively contributed €187,000 towards the project.

This event will also feature a number of Maltese artists who will be on site during the open day and painting scenes in and around the palace.

The works of art will be available for purchase and a fourth of the proceeds will be in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund.

Some of the works can be viewed on www.doi.gov.mt and the others will be on sale during the weekend.

The palace will be open on October 18 from 6 p.m. till late, and on October 19, from 9 a.m. till 6 p.m.

Ticket prices for the open day cost €4 for adults, while children enter free of charge. Proceeds will be in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund.

Bookings can be made by calling 9949 3110.
