Following their seven-game unbeaten run, ladies' league champions Wild Angels Vitality succumbed to their first upset of the season at the hands of a determined Kavallieri.

Undoubtedly, this match proved to be a good advert for the sport as both sides had their good moments, especially Kavallieri during the second period.

Wild Angels Vitality opened with a slender 2-0 lead with Kavallieri hitting back to lead 3-2. Within minutes, Wild Angels fought back to build a three-goal advantage, 7-4.

However, Kavallieri were not to be undone as by half-time they reduced the arrears to 8-6.

Kavallieri's recovery did not stop there as the beginning of the second period saw them staging a bold comeback to the extent that after seven minutes the game was deadlocked at 8-8.

The equilibrium persisted as both teams were level at 10-all.

However, from this moment onwards, Kavallieri seized the opportunity and took full control, scoring three times without reply.

Vitality did pull one back but two other Kavallieri goals sealed the issue in their favour.

Suzanne Nygren was Kavallieri's best scorer on five goals. Louise Micallef also scored five times for Wild Angels.

Champions Aloysians have now extended their lead at the top to six points after this deserved victory over Kavallieri.

Aloysians had a good start by taking a 4-0 lead. Kavallieri did not stay back though and managed to bridge the gap to just one goal, 5-4.

However, Aloysians took the initiative once again as they led 10-7, a lead which increased to 14-11 by half-time.

The second period saw a complete domination from the champions. In fact, their three-goal lead was increased to 21-11 within minutes of the start of the second half.

At this stage, Kavallieri were finding the going tough as Milos Stanislejevic's side kept piling up the pressure and goals.

Prolific scorer Roberto Ragonesi continued to strengthen his position at the top of the leading scorers with a further 13 goals.
