The Kalypso QuartetThe Kalypso Quartet

A Romantic Mother’s Day is the title of the chamber music concert that will be performed by the Kalypso Quartet at the Music Room in St James Cavalier, Valletta, on Sunday at 7.30pm.

The ensemble will perform some of the most beautiful pages from the string quartet repertoire, with a dose of Maltese contemporary music:

Beethoven’s Quartet No. 4 in C minor, op. 18, the famous Death and the Maiden  by Schubert, and Grinta, by the Maltese composer Ruben Zahra.

The Kalypso string quartet was born in Malta in 2011 and is made up by Klara Nazaj and Giulia Tavano, on violins, Ina Georgieva on viola and Akos Kertesz on cello.

They currently are all musicians in the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and performed widely abroad and in illustrious festivals in Malta, as Bir Miftuħ International Music Festival and Victoria International Arts Festival in Gozo.
