The Malta Labour Party is in favour of the rent law reform in principle and will tackle this issue appropriately when it is discussed in Parliament, opposition leader Charles Mangion was quoted as telling officials of the Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise yesterday.

During the meeting at the MLP headquarters in Ħamrun, Dr Mangion was presented with a copy of the Chamber's Position Paper on Rent Law Reform.

At the meeting, the Chamber reiterated its stance on the need for political consensus for this reform to be meaningful.

The Chamber delegation yesterday also discussed the reform with Social Policy Minister John Dalli when the latter was presented with the Chamber's position paper.

Mr Dalli was quoted as saying that the paper was very balanced and went into the technical details of the White Paper.

The Chamber insisted that requisition orders be immediately revoked and that the principles of this reform be entrenched in the Constitution.

The meeting was held at the Ministry for Social Policy in Valletta.
