This year’s Challenge for a Smile event organised by Puttinu Cares in collaboration with Unilever raised €27,000 in aid of families affected by cancer. The funds will be presented to Puttinu Cares during the Football Marathon in May.

Unilever helped promote the event through newspaper, TV, a dedicated website and facebook page and in-store advertising.

This year’s increased attendance during the Challenge was also due in part to the promotional efforts of local radio DJ and television personality Gianni Zammit who agreed to take on all three swimming, cycling and running challenges if the event’s Facebook page received over 4,500 ‘likes’. Thanks to a substantial level of online interest the page received over 5,000 followers and Gianni attempted and completed all three challenges on the day.

Several participants gave their feedback about Challenge for a Smile pointing out that the event was a great introduction to multidisciplinary events, was encouraging on a personal level to those involved and truly reflected the spirit of sportsmanship in support of a worthy cause.

All three activities were well attended, especially the running and walking portion of the event.
