Celtic weathered a late fightback from Inverness to gain a 2-1 win in the Scottish Premier League yesterday.
Second-half goals from Scott Brown and Glenn Loovens looked to have given the champions a comfortable advantage but youngster Garry Wood, who had earlier missed a great chance, pulled one back for the home side to set up an interesting finish.
Kilmarnock snatched a late 1-0 victory over Motherwell thanks to a goal from Craig Bryson and St Mirren bagged three crucial points at the foot of the table with a 2-1 victory away to relegation rivals Hamilton.
Franco Miranda opened the scoring before Jack Ross nodded into his own net. Billy Mehmet's goal proved to be decisive as the visitors claimed the points.
The result enabled St Mirren to leapfrog Hamilton in the table.
Falkirk slipped to the bottom of the standings after a 1-0 defeat at home to fellow strugglers Aberdeen. Lee Miller scored the goal that gave Aberdeen their first win in six matches.
