A walk to highlight some of Gozo's scenic spots, coinciding with the summer solstice, is being held in Qala, Gozo on Sunday, starting at 5 a.m. near Qala cemetery.

Organiser John Mizzi said those taking part will walk towards the beach and at 5.40 enjoy the magical sunrise of the summer solstice while listening to the mellow sounds of the shamanic drums which were probably also used in antiquity.

The group will then proceed to the beach to view a large 4m stone formation known as the Venus of Malta which features a lion head and a large square hole underneath, which lights up during the summer solstice sunrise.

Members of the group can have a swim at the beach under this possible Mother Goddess Statue and between the formation of the sleeping child and a phallus which together form a perfect triangle.

The group will then view the ancient Qala cart ruts and and ' footsteps' formed in the soft marsh silt where, according to geologist Bekh-Ivanov Dmitri, Atlantis sunk and Malta and Gozo popped up.

At 5 p.m. Mr Mizzi will be conducting another walk to visit the possible Atlantis Temples in Gharb. Meeting point in front of Gharb church.

These two fun events are free but a small donation to the children's Fairyland Ward would be appreciated. http://www.johnmizzi.com/en/events.php
