Many of us like including our pets in the Christmas traditions and why not, our beds are there with us all your round and they are considered as part of the family.

Pet-friendly parties
Christmas is all about spending time with family and friends but our parties do tend to get loud. If children are around they normally want to play with your pets and the excessive attention together with all the noise might leave your pet stressed. You might want to think about letting your pet say its hellos when guests arrive but then let it retreat to a quiet room with some extra treats.

Our favourite foods can be toxic to pets
There is so much indulgence going on around Christmas and our pets tend to get spoiled a little too. Maybe an extra piece of turkey or slice of gammon which just came out of the over, however, as always, make sure that alcohol, caffeine and chocolate are kept away from your beloved pet.

Gifts for your pets
From treats to new toys our pets enjoy receiving gifts as much as we do. You can also buy them some new accessories like a cat scratcher, new feeding and drinking bowls, or maybe a shiny collar. You can also go the extra mile and wrap it up for them. Just make sure that you use plain wrapping paper rather than foil wrap which would make your pet ill if ingested.

Take lots of pictures
There is nothing cuter than a cat covered in christmas wrapping or a dog wearing a little santa hat so snap away. Of course always make sure that your pet is perfectly happy with modelling for you.

Give to less fortunate pets
A donation to a either a local or foreign animal charity would make a great gift for any animal lover but you can also give local charities either a monetary or food donation as a gift for the animals they take care of. The Island Sanctuary on Sunday mornings let you walk their dogs. It’s a great thing to do with all the family and it will make a few dogs incredibly happy.
