Thousands of people creating a human chain along the Elbe river and facing the historical centre during the 66th anniversary of the allied bombings during World War II in Dresden, eastern Germany, yesterday. A massive bombing raid by Allied forces on Dresden beginning on February 13, 1945 sparked a firestorm that destroyed much of the historical centre of the city.
