Former Medialink financial controller Antoine Borg will be taking up the seventh district seat vacated by Lawrence Gonzi.

He was elected with 2,253 votes at the sixth and final count. The quota was 2,038.

Six other candidates also contested the election, namely Peter Micallef, Philip Mifsud, Tony Abela, Edwin Vassallo, David Vassallo and Rudolph Grima.

At the fifth count, Mr Borg had 1,361 votes, Mr Micallef 1,380. The quota is 2,036.

Dr Gonzi resigned from Parliament on July 17 after a 25-year career, in which he had also served as Speaker and Leader of the Opposition.
