Antonio Cassano flew out of Italy with Milan today and is set to train with his new team-mates for the first time at their training camp in Dubai.
The Serie A leaders agreed terms with Sampdoria earlier this month for the permanent transfer of Cassano to the San Siro.
The 28-year-old forward is set to be officially confirmed as a Milan player when documents are lodged with the Lega Calcio at the start of January, however he was granted permission by Sampdoria to join up with his new club early.
Cassano is suspended until January 31 and has not featured for Sampdoria since being dropped from the squad in October following a heated argument with club president Riccardo Garrone.
Samp attempted to rescind the player's contract but were unsuccessful, however Cassano was punished by an arbitration panel with his wages reduced by 50% for the duration of his contract with the Genoa club.
Milan have a friendly arranged against Al Ahly on January 2, and are due to leave Dubai the following day.
