A 10-year casino concession agreement was signed today between the government and Eden Leisure Group.

Eden Leisure Group Limited was identified as the preferred bidder at the end of a competitive process which started in July last year and which was led by the privatisation unit.

Economy Minister Chris Cardona said that through the concession, the government was sending a clear message that it would continue to work to strengthen the country’s economic rhythm.

The government has also invited Dragonara Gaming Ltd, the second preferred bidder, to enter negotiations for the eventuality that a second licence is given.

Dragonara Gaming Ltd had initiated court procedures after Eden was named preferred bidder.

Meanwhile, the Economy Minister, has so far failed to stick to his pledge to name the members of a dissolved technical committee who, he has claimed, had a conflict of interest in the evaluation of bids.
