People shopping for clothes in a Hamrun shop had the fright of their lives this evening when an armed and hooded person entered the shop and demanded money.

The police said they were informed of the theft by people who turned up at the Hamrun police station requesting assistance saying that a theft was taking place in the shop at Triq Dun Neriku Cordina Perez.

They said that while people were shopping for clothes the thief asked employees for money and escaped with not more than 2,000 euros. No one was injured.

An inquiry is being held.
