Jewellery and cash were stolen in a hold-up at a shop in St George's Road, St Julians, yesterday at about 7 p.m.

A female employee aged 23 from St Julian did not suffer any injuries.

The police said preliminary investigations showed that two men stopped in front of the shop, and one of them, who was wearing a crash helmet and brandished a firearm, entered the shop demanding valuables.

The two men then escaped on a motorcycle.

The police said cash, which does not exceed €400 and an amount of jewellery were stolen in the raid.
