The remains of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, who was killed by a car bomb almost two weeks ago, have been released for burial.
Sources said that Magistrate Anthony Vella was satisfied with the results of the tests conducted and has given the green light for the family to proceed with the funeral arrangements.
The funeral is expected to be held on Friday. The State will not be involved in its organisation.
The sources said that Europol, the FBI and Dutch investigators were working “very well” with the Maltese police and the experts appointed by the court.

The police said on Thursday it was still far too early to determine if the explosive used in the bomb was Semtex. Fresh tests have revealed the bomb may have been placed in the car rather than attached to its undercarriage as originally believed. Further tests and analysis are being carried out by ballistic experts.
Tests are also being done on cigarette butts found at the site where a “suspicious” car was seen at the time of the explosion.
