The Malta Council for Culture and the Arts released the results of this year's carnival competitions.

In the grotesque masks category, Tonio Scerri and Luke Wood from Valletta clinched the first prize. The second prize went to George Farrugia from Msida and Manwel Zarb from Valletta, while third place went to Philip Grima and Johann Cini, both from Valletta.

In the dance companies' three categories, Category A saw Paul Curmi and Christopher Caruana from Valletta claiming first place, Alfred Baldacchino from Msida finishing runner-up and Raymond Mallia and Tony Busuttil from Valletta rounding out the top three.

In Category B, first prize went to Joseph Abela and friends from Maria Annunzjata group in Tarxien. Second prize went to Anton Caruana from Valletta. Third place went to Charlie Briffa and Carlo Olivari Demanuele from San Ġwann.

In the children's Category C, first prize went to Brian Bonnici with Cutey Cute Dancers; second prize went to Jackie Armeni, while Godwin and Alfred Scerri clinched the third spot.

This year's carnival opened in Valletta on Friday February 12 and concluded on Tuesday with a grand finale in Floriana.
