Carnival participants have warned the Office of the Prime Minister that they will call off next year's activities unless they are granted a disused factory for use as a workshop.

The request was made in a letter delivered to the Office of the Prime Minister after the Lands Department gave notice to the participants that they would be unable to continue using Fort St Elmo to build their floats after October.

The members of the Ghaqda Partecipanti tal-Karnival said they had identified a disused government-owned factory in Marsa as suitable for their purpose. They also popinted out that longstanding promises on the building of a Carnival Village or the provision of facilities had not been honoured.
