A total of 15,000 patients underwent a digital x-ray in the community last year instead of going to Mater Dei Hospital, Parliamentary Secretary Chris Fearne said.

Another 11,000 undertook a warfarin test and 12,000 were inspected by an orthopaedic specialist in primary healthcare centres.

Mr Fearne was speaking at the inauguration of a new community clinic in Msida.
