Economic Services Minister Chris Cardona has held talks in China as part of a meeting of the Malta-China Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation
The two sides discussed the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Medium-Term Cooperation Plan signed in July.
Dr Cardona referred to the Life Sciences Park being built near Mater Dei Hospital, saying its location investors who were keen to address the regional market including the North African market. It was also interesting for non-EU companies to establish a competitive base in the EU.
Other subjects discussed included opportunities in infrastructure construction and the possibility of attracting Chinese financial institutions to establish branches in Malta. The two sides also discussed cooperation in the field of film and television production.
The minister's delegation included Ambassador Clifford Borg-Marks, Marika Tonna, Chief Operating Officer, Malta Enterprise, Helga Pizzuto, Chief of Spectrum Management and Technology, Malta Communications Authority and Alfred Mifsud, advisor to the Ministry for Finance.
