An anonymous artist recently placed two cardboard ‘statues’ in the empty niches on the facade of the Our Lady of Pilar church in West Street, Valletta. On one side, the angel stands on a globe and a stack of encyclopaedias, while on the other, the angel stands on a hamburger and a mound of garbage bags.
