I refer to the item titled ‘Frustrated restaurateur to quit Malta over parked caravans’ (May 3).

I am ashamed to call myself Maltese and fully sympathise with Claude Camilleri. I too would opt to leave Malta and settle in a country where laws are applicable to all citizens, not as we do in Malta.

It has become the norm to see the coastline taken over by all kinds of caravans, even though it seems they are all without a permit and lack the approval of the sanitary authorities.

An alternative for caravan enthusiasts is for the government to allocate a single point, towards St Mark’s Tower and D’Orbeau Battery near the Salina Road.

The present state of locations taken over by caravan owners resemble some sites one would find in Third World countries.
