Quick action this morning averted a potential incident at the Floriana MCP car park when a blue Peugeot 405 caught fire.

The car was parked in the top, open air level when a passerby spotted smoke coming out of the bonnet and alerted the staff.

They put out the blaze using fire extinguishers before the flames spread to cars parked alongside. A fire engine was called to the scene. Only the front part of the Peugeot was damaged. The incident happened at about 10.15 a.m.

The driver was notified of the incident by the police.
