Seattle police have released videos showing a carjacker speeding the wrong way up a one-way street, firing out the window at pursuing officers and finally losing control of his stolen sports car as police shot and killed him.
No bystanders or officers suffered significant injuries in the events on Sunday afternoon, which began when workers at a Pike Place Market coffee shop reported a man with a gun.
Police said the 35-year-old carjacker held several businesses at gunpoint before fleeing from a tattoo shop and hijacking a Volkswagen.
He stole another vehicle at a car rental business and led police on a 70-mph chase through north Seattle before officers slammed into the Camaro head-on.
About a dozen officers fired shots.
