France captain Patrick Vieira resumed training, suggesting his thigh injuries would not rule him out of the tournament.

Meanwhile, forward Thierry Henry and winger Franck Ribery pulled out of the team’s first training session at their Swiss base after half an hour, although neither appeared to be in a serious condition.

Midfielder Vieira, who had not trained since hurting a left thigh muscle last week in a training session for a warm-up game, resumed normal training, running and dribbling with the ball with his team mates.

Although he will miss France’s opening game against Romania on nest week, he could be fit for the remainder of the tournament.

Mathieu Flamini, who was called up in case Vieira had to withdraw, would then go home. A final decision is expected at the end of this week.

But Ribery trained on his own, jogging around the pitch, and was seen holding his right ankle before leaving the session.

A team spokesman said he had received a knock in France’s win over Colombia in their final warm-up this week.

Henry, who had trained with the others until then, followed Ribery out for no obvious reason.

The same spokesman said he was to undergo treatment but did not elaborate.
