Transport Malta is to oversee the recovery of the sunken vessel Angela Arcella, which capsized in Grand Harbour on Tuesday.

Divers assessed the situation yesterday before the Angela Arcella is raised,in the coming days, using cranes, floatation bags and pumps.

The Angela Arcella, berthed at Laboratory Wharf, capsized after it was hit by a cargo ship, the MV  Maria, which developed a fault as it was about to berth near by.

Two crewmen on board the Angela Arcella jumped off the vessel as she started to list. They were not injured.

The vessel is used by fish farms and a quantity of fish feed was being carried in its hold.

The ship is 40 metres long with a forward bridge and a large open deck, with a crane and funnel at the rear.
