A coordinated policy and plan should be drawn up for the country to have healthy generations, many speakers at a seminar on European Partnership for Action Against Cancer agreed.

The seminar was organised by the Local Councils Association. President Michael Cohen said it was estimated that a third of cancers could be avoided through the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.

A change in culture and mentality was needed for this. Local councils worked closely with families so could spread this message for the people to have the best information on how to live better to avoid diseases.

A change in mentality was a challenge which could be achieved through a coordinated policy, he said.
