The breakwater across part of Marsalforn Bay should be rebuilt, the Żebbuġ local council is insisting.

The call was made after the damage caused to the promenade and shops on the seafront during Thursday's storm. The Żebbuġ council, which is responsible for Marsalforn, said it could not continue repairing storm damage unless action was taken to fix or rebuild the breakwater. The breakwater across part of the mouth of Marsalforn Bay was damaged some years ago but has not been repaired, it said.

The council called on the Gozo Ministry to take urgent action to protect residents, fishermen, businessmen and the tourism industry.
