A contractor hit a cable leading to the substation supplying the Ċirkewwa Reverse Osmosis plant at around 2.15 p.m., affecting the water supply, Enemalta said.

It said its employees were currently on site working to repair the damaged cable. Until works have been completed, households in the north of Malta will suffer from low water pressure.

Works are estimated to be finished tonight.

In the meantime, works on the Żurrieq cable fault, which happened this morning, are almost complete.

The fault was on 11kV overhead lines.

Most consumers will have their supply fully restored within an hour, Enemalta said.
