Originally coming to everyone’s attention thanks largely to their bubbly concoction of punk-pop and vibrant onstage antics, local trio Cable 35 have been honing their music towards a collective sound embracing various other elements besides their punk roots.

Indications of a directional shift were already evident on the band’s debut release, aptly titled My First EP, mainly on the song Animal Rules, which discarded the cartoon elements and replaced them with a less lightweight musical approach. And while their early stuff remains popular during their energetic live performances, Jeff, Kriz and Chris have been including more new material with each gig that they play.

The three young lads are off to Denmark this week for an eight-day visit that will see them perform a handful of gigs in Copenhagen. Hosted by colourful Danish musician Jesper Erup, who has been to Malta twice so far performing with his bands, Cable 35 will also be performing two shows at the music school where Erup teaches and will be working with him on some new demo recordings.

Upon their return, Cable 35 will be toning down their hectic gig schedule to dedicate more time towards working on a new release.
