The Cabinet this morning discussed the position adopted by Nationalist MP Franco Debono in the wake of last Friday's ministerial reshuffle after he was not made a minister, the government said in a statement.

It did not say what was agreed, but it noted that the Prime Minister has called a meeting of the Nationalist parliamentary group and a meeting of the PN is already scheduled for this week.

The Cabinet also discussed the ongoing talks on a new European Treaty regarding the euro as agreed by EU heads of government on December 9.

Also discussed was the international economic situation and action which needs to be taken by the government to safeguard the Maltese economy.
